Nevada

Nevada is bordered by Oregon and Idaho in the north, Utah and Arizona in the east, California in the west, and California and Arizona in the south. Its capital is Carson City, but of course the most famous city is Las Vegas. The 32nd most populous State in the USA, its population is about 3,080,156 people (2019). Its governor is Steve Sisolak.

It’s the most mountainous state in the United States and also the driest, even though its name comes from the Spanish who first colonized the area and named it after the snow covering the mountains in winter, similar to Sierra Nevada in Spain. It’s nicknamed "the Silver State" in honor of a major silver deposit that attracted settlers and strengthened the area’s economy.

Well known thanks to Las Vegas, Nevada is a major tourist destination in the 20th century. This place of gambling has also a wonderful landscape to discover, like Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, and some others.

The climate in Nevada is semi-arid with abundant sunshine, light rainfall, and snow. Its fauna is mostly species adapted to desert, extreme temperatures and to a lack of moisture, like scorpions, mountain lions, snakes, lizards, spiders, wolves, coyotes, and foxes.
