New Jersey

New Jersey is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the Northeastern United States. This state is bordered by Pennsylvania and New York in the north, Pennsylvania in the west, Delaware and Delaware Bay in the south, the Atlantic Ocean in the west, and Long Island (a part of New York) in the east. New Jersey is the fourth-smallest state by area but the 11th-most populous, with 8,882,190 residents in 2019. Its capital is Trenton and its largest city is Newark. Its governor is Phil Murphy.

There are two climatic conditions in the state. The south, central, and northeast parts of the state have a humid subtropical climate, while the northwest has a humid continental climate. Climate change is affecting New Jersey faster than much of the rest of the United States. As of 2019, New Jersey was one of the fastest-warming states in the nation.

New Jersey is called "the Garden State" because it became famous in the 18th century for the fertility of its land. It is now also among the most urbanized and crowded of states. However, the state is wellkown for its long stretches of fine beaches along the Atlantic Ocean, and the resort town of Atlantic City.

New Jersey was destined to become an industrial giant, but that sector has declined. Today, jobs in the service sector outnumber manufacturing jobs more than three to one. Nonetheless, New Jersey has continued to attract many industries, especially corporate headquarters from New York City, largely thanks to its greater space, better transportation, and favourable tax rates.
