Arkansas is a state in the south central region of the United States with a population of 3,017,804 (in 2019) and has an area of 53,179 sq mi. Arkansas is known for its numerous parks and famous wild areas like Lake Ouachita or Craighead Forest Park, for which it is nicknammed "The Natural State". The capital and most populous city is Little Rock, located in the central region of the state. Arkansas’ governor is Asa Hutchinson.

Summers are warm and humid in Arkansas, with average high temperatures 93°F (33.9°C) at the peak of July. Temperatures often exceed 100°F (37.8°C) during the summer and occasionally reach 110°F (43.3°C) in the south. The state has an average elevation of 200 meters above sea level.

The state has at least 26 native varieties of orchids; the passion flower is so abundant that it was once considered for designation as the state flower, but the apple blossom was finally chosen instead. Arkansas's native animals include 15 varieties of bats and 3 each of rabbits and squirrels.
