How do I get an Alaska birth certificate?

Requirements

  • • Eligibility: Only the person named on the birth certificate, their parents, legal guardians, or certain other family members are eligible to obtain a certified copy of a birth certificate. Birth certificates are available to order for births that occurred from 1913 to present.

  • • Required Information: You will need to provide some information about the person whose certificate you are ordering, such as their full name, date and place of birth, and the names of their parents. Additionally, you will need to provide your own information and proof of your relationship to the person on the certificate.

Procedure

  • • Online: You can order a certified copy of a birth certificate online through the Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics' Vital Records website. You will need to create an account and provide the required information and payment.

  • • Mail: You can also order a certified copy of a birth certificate by mail. You will need to download and fill out a copy of the "Application for a Certified Copy of a Birth Certificate" form, which is available on the Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics' Vital Records website. You will then need to mail the completed form, along with payment and any required identification or proof of relationship, to the Alaska Bureau of Vital Statistics' office.
